Transplantation of organs from donation after circulatory determination of death (DCD) has become an accepted practice in many parts of the world. It remains a focus of intense interest in the transplant community due to its huge estimated potential to increase the organ pool, and DCD has been a particular stimulus for recent advances in research and clinical practice in the field of organ preservation.
